  • Prepare the material. Painter's tape, protective plastic, putty, file, spatula, brushes, roller tray, paint pots, enamel…; Don't miss anything when you start painting!
  • Choose the colour and the type of paint. Make colour tests of all the tones that you like and you think that are suitable for the space. When you have decided one of them, try it again on a large piece of wall to let it dry and see how it looks like at different times of the day, both natural light and artificial light. If it really convinces you, look for it in quality paint: repels stains, easy to clean, resistant to rubbing, etc.
  • Fix the flaws. With a little putty cover the small crack and holes you see in the walls.
  • Eliminate the paper and the thrust. It is a cumbersome job, but in case there is paper and/or thrust on the walls of your house, you should tear it out, file, fix, and apply a minimum of three layers of putty and two layers of paint.
  • Protect furniture and other surfaces. Put painter's tape on the baseboards, corners and frames, cover the tape of the blinds and protect the switches if you can't dismantle them. Put paper or cardboard on the floor.
  • Start with the roof and the corners. It's important to start with the roof. In this way you can cover the drops that fall on the walls afterwards. Follow the corners, so you will avoid differences between the brush trail in the corner and the rest of the wall. Do it first with the brush and blur the stroke with a roller.
  • Paint the rest of the wall. From top to bottom, making long runs until everything is well covered.
  • It's always advisable to apply a second coat of paint.
  • Remove the tape and touch up. Once the paint has dried, don't wait to remove the tape from the entire house, you'll prevent it from breaking, leave trails of glue on the wall or that when you remove it, you will also tear part of the painting. Take one more look and, with a small brush or roller, fix small damages that you may have left.
